Nitti Donation To The Henan Province
In July 2021, torrential rains battered the Henan province, one of China’s most populous and poorest provinces in China. With large swathes of farmlands and factories flooded. Hundreds of thousands of people were displaced and causing 1.22 billion Yuan (about $190 million) of economic damage.
Henan authorities said the intensity of the downpour was unprecedented, with more than 20 centimeters (7.8 inches) of rain pouring onto Zhengzhou in one hour — accounting for one third of the city’s annual rainfall recorded last year.
As of 2 August 2021, provincial authorities have reported that 302 people have died, 50 gone missing, 815,000 people were evacuated and 1.1 million people were relocated.
In total more than 11 million people were affected in way or another and many more millions left in uncertainty of their family and loved ones their fate.
These floods, the massive displacement of people and the tremendous amount of emotional and economical damage resulted that Nitti decided to step in and do something to help and provide some relief to the people in the affected areas.
With roots deeply embedded in China, Nitti simply could not stand on the sideline with this amount of suffering in one of the birthplaces of Chinese history and our CEO Mr. Oei Han Siang didn’t hesitate for a second to aid in the rebuilding efforts!
Therefore, after coordinating with the Wei Hui Civil Affairs Bureau Nitti decided to donate 2000 pairs of our safety shoes to the Henan province to provide support to the relief and rescue efforts to make sure that the rebuilding efforts would be done while meeting the highest safety standards.
The donation was finalized early August 2021.
Nitti would like to give special thanks to the Wei Hui Civil Affairs Bureau and Zhang Xue Gang (Nitti Sales Manager) for organizing and coordinating the donation efforts!
